German Glamping
10 November 2011
Glamorous camping in the city? There’s at least one paradox in there. But if you find yourself heading to the German capital of Berlin then it might be worth considering a visit to Huttenpalast (German for ‘hut place’, FYI) in Neukölln. Founded in 2009, this affordable boutique hotel was an unused vacuum factory until partners Silke Lorenzen and Sarah Vollmer utterly transformed it through a bit of upcycling.

Lorenzen and Vollmer wanted to allow guests to socialise and experience more culture than they would at an anonymous ‘megahotel’. The layout of the hotel – an indoor garden with refurbished caravans and huts interspersed – was designed to accommodate this need. Cosy. www.huettenpalast.de
